Danish citizens applying to enter the Argentine Republic under the Memorandum of Understanding between Argentina and Denmark on a Work and Holiday Program must obtain the corresponding visa. Danish youth may participate in this program if they meet the following requirements at the time of visa application:
-Be a Danish citizen residing in Denmark, holding a valid Danish passport;
-Be between 18 and 30 years of age, inclusive;
-Not travel with dependents, unless they obtain their own visa;
-Not have previously participated in this program;
-Have no criminal record;
-Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover the initial expenses of their stay;
-Have a return ticket to their place of origin, or demonstrate sufficient funds to purchase one;
-Have medical and accident insurance covering hospitalization and repatriation for the entire duration of their stay;
-Pay the corresponding consular fees for the visa.
It should be noted that, upon obtaining a Work and Holiday visa, participants in this program may stay in Argentina for up to twelve (12) months, non-extendable. They may enter and exit Argentina and work for up to nine (9) months of their total stay, as the main objective of this program is to encourage tourism and recreational activities. Additionally, participants may attend training or educational courses for up to six (6) months during their stay.
How to apply for the Work and Holiday visa
The visa application process is personal and requires submission of the following documents (original and copy) to the Argentine Embassy in Denmark:
-Valid Danish passport with at least one blank page;
-Completed visa application form;
-One 4x4 cm photograph, front view, white background;
-Criminal record certificate issued by the Danish authority, showing no criminal record for the last three years;
-Sworn statement of no criminal record in other countries;
-Return ticket reservation to Denmark, or proof of sufficient funds to purchase one;
-Proof of sufficient funds to cover the beginning of the stay (minimum €2,500). This requirement can be met with bank statements from the last three months or credit card statements (own, not third-party);
-Reservation or quote for medical and accident insurance policy with a minimum coverage of €30,000, including medical and repatriation coverage;
-Receipt of payment of the consular fee (€150); and
-Motivation letter stating that the purpose of the application is vacationing in Argentina, with employment being incidental.
Meeting the requirements mentioned above does not guarantee the granting of the visa, which remains at the discretion of the Argentine State.
