In order to promote knowledge of works of Argentine literature and thought abroad, the present Translation Support Program was established by Ministerial Resolution No. 41 of February 2, 2009, with the aim of encouraging and strengthening the publication of these works in foreign languages.
Some of the main features of PROSUR are:
-
The works may be selected from different literary genres by classic and contemporary Argentine authors, whose themes are representative of the national identity.
-
The Program was launched in fulfillment of the commitment undertaken by the Argentine Government to promote the translation of works by Argentine authors, in order to facilitate their publication in foreign languages and to disseminate our imagery, ideas, and values abroad.
-
Grants are awarded to foreign publishers upon their commitment to publish the works before November 30 of the year following the call for applications.
-
The works must have been written in Spanish by Argentine authors and must have been previously published.
-
The works may be fiction or non-fiction and belong to any literary genre (novel, short story, poetry, theater, children’s and young adult literature, etc.).
