Distance Education System (SEAD)

The Distance Education Service (SEAD) of the Education Secretariat of the Ministry of Human Capital provides the opportunity to continue primary and secondary education, following the national curricular content, to Argentine citizens and children of Argentine citizens under 18 years old who reside abroad.

This service allows students to maintain practice of the national language, preserve their connection with their country of origin, and facilitate their reintegration into the Argentine educational system upon returning.

Key Information:

• SEAD is exclusively aimed at Argentine students living outside the country. It is not possible to enroll under this program from within Argentina.

• This is an optional and complementary program to schooling in the country of residence. Therefore, it is mandatory to provide proof of enrollment or regular student status at the local school, even if, due to differences in calendar or language, the student attends a different grade/year than the one assigned by SEAD.

• Placement in the SEAD grade/year is based on the last year completed in Argentina or abroad, following the Equivalency and Correspondence Table prepared by the Directorate of National Recognition of Titles and Studies of the Education Secretariat of the Ministry of Human Capital.

• At the end of the academic year, SEAD issues a school certificate equivalent to that of any Argentine educational institution.

• The secondary school diploma granted by SEAD is a Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Social Sciences and Humanities, with national validity, allowing for further higher education studies in Argentina or abroad.

Required Documentation for Enrollment:

• Student’s birth certificate.

• Student’s ID or passport.

• Completed enrollment form.

• Primary education: report card for the current year and certificate of the last completed grade (from Argentina or abroad).

• Secondary education: report card for the current year and certificate of completed primary studies or legalized partial transcript up to the last year completed in Argentina.

• School documents from foreign institutions must be legalized by the corresponding educational authorities and apostilled.

• Explanatory note detailing the reasons and period of travel, and proof of residence abroad for at least one of the responsible adults (work certificate, visa). In the case of an exchange, a note from the corresponding institution or organization.

• School certificate with official recognition from the country and city of residence (language courses or non-formal education are not accepted).

• SEAD may request the submission of report cards or certificates from foreign schools at the end of each semester.

Enrollment is done by email, and documents must be sent scanned in PDF format (no photos).

Enrollment Dates:
Start of the 2026 academic year:
From February 9 to July 31, 2026.
Complete documentation must be submitted. Late submissions will not be accepted.

For school continuity:
Students must continue attending school within the Argentine educational system until the date of departure from the country. To ensure continuity, the last completed two-month or trimester period will be considered, according to the current Argentine school calendar.
In these cases, enrollment will remain open until October 9, 2026. Students must provide proof of three completed bimesters in Argentina (or the equivalent of two trimesters).

Enrollment in 1st grade:
From February 9 to May 15, 2026.
Students must be six years old by June 30, 2026.
For school continuity in 1st grade, enrollment will remain open until October 9, 2026, with proof of three completed bimesters in Argentina (or the equivalent of two trimesters).
